Pat’s Friends Recipes Site

September 25th, 2013 | Posted by pmpax in Food - (Comments Off on Pat’s Friends Recipes Site)

As a child, I have fond remembrances of my grandmother baking all sorts of wondrous  baked goodies in preparation of Christmas.

Unfortunately, she is no longer with us and many of those recipes that her mother passed down to her are now sadly lost.

With that in mind, I had the idea in creating a web site that would be a place for all of the various recipes of family and friends to be both enjoyed by all who visit, as well as recorded and safeguarded so not to be sadly lost like those of my grandmothers.

So having spent several hours tinkering about and working upon the site, I can now be able to proudly share with you one of my most recent hobby sites for all to enjoy!

Bon Appetit!

Nazi Zombies

September 20th, 2013 | Posted by pmpax in Gamer - (Comments Off on Nazi Zombies)

The Nazi’s are employing zombies??!!

A town is under seize and needs a crack team to not only wipe out the zombie menace, but to save the towns much beloved Rabbi, who is working on the means to assist the Allied forces against the hellish forces of the Nazi’s!

Well, in times such as this, call in the Desert Rat…that’s me!

My buddy Daryl bestowed that most honorable name upon me after some of my more ignominious actions on the field of battle over the many years we have gamed together.

Here are two pictures from that particular WW2 game, which I might add was a complete and absolute victory for the “good guys”. Not only were the Nazi forces roundly defeat and their zombie abominations destroyed, but the good Rabbi was saved and even managed to give them a good thumping with his own “secret weapon” which is so secret I didn’t even take any pictures of it!

What a Commercial Should be

September 16th, 2013 | Posted by pmpax in Cool Vids - (Comments Off on What a Commercial Should be)

Just found out about this commercial for a telecommunications company from Thailand.

The commercials message really is beautiful and profound, so unlike the daily commercials which assault our senses and have a message counter to all that is good and decent.

Kudos to those who conceptualized it, but also took the idea and made it a reality.

Just lovely!

Adding Album Cover Art or Images in iTunes

September 9th, 2013 | Posted by pmpax in Music - (Comments Off on Adding Album Cover Art or Images in iTunes)

As a lover of music and all things Audiophile, I have a lot of music cd’s (and a few LP’s) which I have collected over the years. Sadly my 8-Tracks and many of my cassette tapes have not made it thus far. I remember fondly listening to my much beloved Star Wars soundtrack on my 8-Track player. Now those where the days! These days I burn everything into my iTunes and will often listen via my iMac computer.

One thing that struck me this morning was how many albums and songs which the cover image is not to be included or found when transferring over the music. The album image is for me equally important in relationship to the music, for I really enjoy visually the particular art or image with which the music artist deemed as significant and compelling enough so as to represent their music.

So I did a little search and came across a simple “how to” article in terms of how to add album cover art or images to your iTunes collection. There are plenty of places on the web where you can find a particular album cover art. In no time whatsoever did I start filling up the empty, white cover art sections of my iTunes collection with the correct and vastly more visually interesting album covers.

If I can do it, so can you!

A Day of Fresh Baked Bread and Dear Friendship

August 29th, 2013 | Posted by pmpax in Food | Good Times - (Comments Off on A Day of Fresh Baked Bread and Dear Friendship)

Quite some time ago, I had the distinct pleasure to spend an afternoon with one of my dear friends Simeon, who is very much a brother-from-another mother. Now, it must be stated that Simeon is a fellow of many divergent interests, one of which is baking. When I arrived at the house, he happily greeted me and ushered me within, where by once inside, my olfactory senses immediately surmised that there was a loaf of one of his amazingly nom nom nomish sourdough bread baking within the oven. Simple pleasures are by far the best of pleasures. Spending the day with a dear old friend, enjoying freshly baked break together is the type of day that I wish all days were like.

Saintland Returns!

August 26th, 2013 | Posted by pmpax in My Web Pages - (Comments Off on Saintland Returns!)

Over a decade ago, I created a very simple “Catholic” web site called Saintland. I wanted to have a simple site for those who were seeking God or looking for a sense of inner peace amid the turmoil of life. My aspiration was to make a site where by one could find some respite and a sense of spiritual safehaven. With the help of my friend Steve, we built the page and over the years there was a fair amount of visitors. The years passed and sadly, the page languished somewhat.

Thus, one of my recent resolutions was to dust off the site and totally rebuild and revamping it from the ground. Hence, over the course of the last two weeks, pretty much my primary focus has been just that, where by I tore down the old site and completely overhauled it. I have added some new prayers and devotions, as well as their corresponding images.

There is still quite a bit more to do, obviously more prayers, quotes, reflections and images to add and include. Over time and at a more relaxed pace, I can augment and build up the sites content. In the meantime, please make yourself welcome and peruse the page. I hope you not only enjoy it, but that it raises your heart and mind to the One who so greatly loves and cherishes us all.

“Ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be open to you” (Matthew 7:7)

Mists of Pandaria – Siege of Orgrimmar

August 15th, 2013 | Posted by pmpax in Gamer - (Comments Off on Mists of Pandaria – Siege of Orgrimmar)

For those who have known me for well, they can tell you that my favorite video game and at this point most cherish is World of Warcraft, or WoW for short. Every so often the game developers put out an update in which they move the storyline forward. Pretty “Soon” there will be one such update to the game, also known as a ‘patch”. Well, within this one we go up against the corrupt leader of the Horde. The Horde is a lose confederation of races which seek to help protect one another, while maintaining their freedom and autonomy from their enemies that of the Alliance, who it should be noted are the actual “bad guys” of the game according to lore.

Over the course of the current game expansion which is called Mists of Pandaria, the current leader of the Horde is Garrosh, who as can be seen within this newly released game trailer is embarking down a path of big trouble to say the least.

Later today, I will write up an article upon my WoW blog (www.bloodhoofbrigands.com) which will give some background upon the character of Garrosh,

Here is a brief synopsis of the events taking place within the video:

Garrosh Hellscream’s treacherous excavation of the Vale of Eternal Blossoms has finished with sinister results — not just for Pandaria, but for all Azeroth.

In a compound beneath Ragefire Chasm, Garrosh has infused his followers — the ‘true Horde’ — with the pilfered essence of the Old God Y’shaarj. With the power of a primordial world-twisting force at his command, Garrosh can rebuild the Horde in his image: strong, obedient, and, most importantly, ‘pure’.

Vol’jin’s attempts to lead Horde rebels into the capital of Orgrimmar haven’t gone unnoticed — and the mightiest heroes of the Alliance have stepped in to siege one of their enemies’ most prized cities. Will the Alliance be content with overthrowing a despot, or will they crush the Horde at one of the most vulnerable points in its history?

A Day of Gaming Awhile Ago

August 12th, 2013 | Posted by pmpax in Gamer - (Comments Off on A Day of Gaming Awhile Ago)

Some time back, I had a wonderful day of “historical” gaming with my dear friend Daryl. A perfect day filled with good food, homemade mead and high tea! Life does not get any better than that!

All of the figures shown within the photos have all been hand painted by Daryl, which I unreservedly and emphatically declare that he is one of the preeminent figure painters that I am know! I was able to purchase this particular collection of figures not long ago, the money of which Daryl was able to begin work upon a new set of historical figures which I will show here on the blog at some point in the near future.

Just to provide a simple context of the game, I was in charge of the British forces, which was to quell a revolt from a particular troublesome providence. My objective was to put an end to the seditious citizenry and secure the temple which they seized and used as a base of operations to launch attacks upon local garrisons and peaceful denizens.

At the conclusion of the game, my forces were victorious and won the day!
